I was an exchange student in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, from 2019 to 2020, and that experience began my journey with German. It introduced me not only to the language, but also to Germany's culture and people. I now attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I am pursuing a double major in Computer Science and German Literature Studies.
The inspiration for this website came from UNC GERM307 course, also known as the SPARK course. I wanted to build something that combined the skills I was learning in computer science with my experience as a German student—from arriving in Germany without speaking the language to working toward completing my German major.
Many sections focus on questions that I found difficult myself or saw other students struggle with. German Wechselpräpositionen and adjective endings, for example, can be especially hard to follow, and those shared challenges shaped the practice on this site.
